Volleyball Recap: Wiregrass Takes a Loss

If Wiregrass was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Guardian Christian Athletics last Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Kings fell just short of the Marianna Bulldogs by a score of 3-2 on Monday. The Kings were not able to make up for their loss to the Bulldogs from their previous meeting back in September of 2024.

In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Wiregrass sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 25-19, 21-25, 16-14.

Avery Wilson paced Wiregrass' offense, picking up 14 kills. Wilson got some help from Ellie Alford and her 17 assists. Wilson was also solid from the service line: she led the team with six aces.

Wiregrass' defeat dropped their record down to 1-1.

After both having extra time off, Wiregrass and Guardian Christian Athletics will shake off the cobwebs and hit the court against one another at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Marianna, they will challenge Bay at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
