Baseball Recap: Reading Comes Up Short

Reading easily dispatched William Penn last Saturday, but unfortunately both the margin and the ultimate result were a different story in this one. The Reading Red KNights fell just short of the J.P. McCaskey Red Tornado by a score of 5-3 on Tuesday. The Red KNights have struggled against the Red Tornado recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.

Reading got a good showing from Justin DeLaCruz, who tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. DeLaCruz has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than one hit any time he's pitched this season.

At the plate, Christopher Disla was cooking despite his team's loss, scoring a run and stealing Two bases. while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those two stolen bases gave him a new career-high.

Reading now has a losing record of 1-2. As for J.P. McCaskey, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.

Coming up, Reading will head out on the road to face off against Harrisburg at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for J.P. McCaskey, they will look to defend their home field on Wednesday against Lebanon at 4:15 p.m.
