Baseball Recap: Franklin County Takes a Loss

Franklin County fought the good fight in their extra-innings match against Rushville on Monday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell just short of the Lions by a score of 5-4. The Wildcats were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Lions apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Garrett Kuntz made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and got on base in four of his five plate appearances with three RBI. Kaden Welch also deserves some recognition as he hit his first double of the season.

Franklin County's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Rushville, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 4-13 record.

Rushville has already played their next game, a 14-1 loss against East Central on the 21st. Hopefully Franklin County paid attention to the Lions' contest: the next time they hit the field, they'll take on the Lions at 5:30 p.m. on Friday.
