Softball Recap: Vance Charter Finds Playoff Glory Versus East Bladen

It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Vance Charter had no problem doing just that on Tuesday. They beat the East Bladen Eagles by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 7-2. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Knights.

Leah Rice made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off six hits (and not a single walk). With that strong performance, she is now averaging an impressive 5.2 strikeouts per game. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Aubrey Puryear, who went 2-for-3 with one home run and three RBI.

Vance Charter pushed their record up to 12-4 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for East Bladen, they have been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-9 record this season.

As of now, neither Vance Charter nor East Bladen have any future games scheduled.
