Basketball Game Preview: Mt. Olive Wildcats vs. North Greene Spartans

The Mt. Olive Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the North Greene Spartans at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. Mt. Olive is coming into the contest on a four-game losing streak.

It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 80-42, which was the final score in Mt. Olive's tilt against Lutheran on Friday.

Mt. Olive's loss came about despite a quality game from David Schoen, who went 5-for-9 en route to 13 points and five rebounds. Schoen continues to improve, besting his previous point total in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Briley Viviano, who posted eight points.

Meanwhile, North Greene lost 56-30 to West Central co-op [Winchester-Bluffs] on Friday. The defeat continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Cougars: they've now lost eight in a row.

Mt. Olive's loss dropped their record down to 5-20. As for North Greene, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-15.

Mt. Olive took a serious blow against North Greene when the teams last played back in December of 2023, falling 58-25. Can Mt. Olive avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
