Basketball Game Preview: Lakes Eagles vs. Boylan Catholic Titans

The Lakes Eagles will take on the Boylan Catholic Titans in a tournament on Saturday. Lakes has given up an average of 55.1 points per game this season, but Saturday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Lakes is headed into the contest having just suffered their biggest defeat since February 20th on Tuesday. They lost 69-46 to Crystal Lake Central. Perhaps unsurprisingly, the Eagles' biggest loss of the season was also their lowest-scoring.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Boylan Catholic). They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 72-69 victory over Jefferson on Friday. While the Titans didn't have the best season last year (they finished 6-27), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.

The win snapped Boylan Catholic's losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-4 record. As for Lakes, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.

Lakes took a serious blow against Boylan Catholic when the teams last played back in December of 2016, falling 74-35. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
