Baseball Recap: South Lenoir Takes Down Midway in a Playoff Battle

South Lenoir extended their postseason success on Thursday against Midway. They came out on top in a nail-biter against the Raiders, sneaking past 9-8. This was a revenge game for the Blue Devils: when they faced off against the Raiders on Tuesday, they had to take a 8-1 loss.

Braden Barnett was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. Barnett was even better at the plate, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and two runs.

In other batting news, Jake Howard was excellent, getting on base in three of his five plate appearances with two RBI, one run, and one double.

South Lenoir pushed their record up to 22-4 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.1 runs over those games. As for Midway, with the defeat, they broke their five-game winning streak and moved their record to 23-8.

South Lenoir will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Raiders: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:30 p.m. on Saturday.
