Volleyball Recap: Tuesday's Victory Is James Monroe's 20th in Last 25 Outings

It's playoff time, and James Monroe had no trouble coming through when it counted. Everything went their way against the Bluefield Beavers on Tuesday as they made off with a 3-0 win. That's more bragging rights for the Mavericks, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant James Monroe was: they took every set by at least 19 points. The final score came out to 25-6, 25-3, 25-4.

James Monroe was led to victory by Peighton Griffith and Skylar Clarkson. Griffith had nine assists and seven aces, while Clarkson had four digs and two aces. Those seven aces gave Griffith a new career-high.

They weren't the only good servers: James Monroe was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.

James Monroe is on a roll lately: they've won 20 of their last 25 contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 33-10-3 record this season. As for Bluefield, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-22-1.

As of now, neither James Monroe nor the Beavers have any future games scheduled.
