Basketball Game Preview: Denison Yellow Jackets vs. Melissa Cardinals

Denison and Melissa are an even 5-5 against one another since November of 2015, but not for long. The Denison Yellow Jackets will face off against the Melissa Cardinals at 5:45 p.m. on Friday. Denison has a tough task ahead: they'll enter the matchup with four straight defeats, while Melissa will come in with four straight wins.

Denison came up short against McKinney North on Tuesday, falling 46-25. That's two games in a row now that the Yellow Jackets have lost by exactly 21 points.

Meanwhile, Melissa took their game on Tuesday with ease, bagging a 51-24 victory over Anna. The Cardinals have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 12 contests by 21 points or more this season.

Melissa's win bumped their record up to 20-8. As for Denison, their loss dropped their record down to 18-12.

Denison came up short against Melissa in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 47-40. Can Denison avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
