Basketball Game Preview: Peak to Peak Pumas vs. Jefferson Academy Jaguars

The Peak to Peak Pumas will face off against the Jefferson Academy Jaguars at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Peak to Peak is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 57 points per game this season.

Peak to Peak is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Colorado's top teams: Kent Denver, who was ranked 12th at the time (Peak to Peak was ranked 16th). Peak to Peak was outmatched by Kent Denver and fell 86-44. The Pumas were down 64-34 at the end of the third quarter, and things only got worse from there.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Tysen Burton, who went 6-for-15 en route to 13 points in addition to seven rebounds and four steals. He has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last eight times he's played. Another player making a difference was Cole Boonstra, who posted 11 points.

Meanwhile, Jefferson Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight defeat. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 65-59 heartbreaker at the hands of Forge Christian.

Peak to Peak's loss ended a five-game streak of away wins and brought them to 18-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.2 points over those games. As for Jefferson Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 13-6.

Everything came up roses for Peak to Peak against Jefferson Academy in their previous meeting back in February of 2024, as the squad secured a 69-37 victory. Does Peak to Peak have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jefferson Academy turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
