Softball Recap: Many Makes It Five in a Row at Home

Many entered their tilt with Pitkin on Monday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They walked away with a 7-2 victory over Pitkin. Many has seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw Pitkin, too.

Baylee Samples spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on nine hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Rylee Gunter, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3. Lilly Arthur was another key player, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

Many's win was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 14-7. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.0 runs on average over those games. As for Pitkin, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-15.

Looking ahead, Many will face off against Calvary Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Cavaliers will roll in looking for their 32nd straight win, something the Tigers surely won't give up without a fight. As for Pitkin, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Hicks at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The Tigers' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pirates have averaged an impressive 9.1 runs per game this season.
