Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Albuquerque Academy walked away with it. They skirted past the Lovington Wildcats 3-1. Winning may never get old, but the Chargers sure are getting used to it with their seventh in a row.
Brian Valdez looked comfortable as he tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Joseph Rounds was excellent, going a perfect 1-for-1 with two runs and one RBI.
Albuquerque Academy pushed their record up to 18-9 with the victory, which was their tenth straight at home. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 7.7 runs. As for Lovington, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 13-15.
