Mercer County proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 15) and on Wednesday they proved they can win the close ones too. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the West Jessamine Colts 9-7. The victory continues a trend for the Titans in their matchups with the Colts: they've now won four in a row.

Ava Musick made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just two earned (and three unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. That's the most runs she has posted since back in April of 2025.

In other pitching news, Ella Davis looked comfortable as she pitched four innings while giving up just two earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances.

Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jaley Bowman, who went 3-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. That's the most doubles she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mia Floro, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with two RBI.

Mercer County always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .611. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as West Jessamine only posted an OBP of .258.

Mercer County's win bumped their record up to 11-6. As for West Jessamine, the loss snapped their winning streak at 16 games and leaves them with a 17-2 record.

Looking ahead, Mercer County will take on Oldham County at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for West Jessamine, they will square off against Henry Clay at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
