Basketball Recap: Iowa Colony Takes a Tough Playoff Loss

Iowa Colony and Rudder squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but Iowa Colony had to settle for second. They took a 62-57 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Rudder Rangers.

Despite the loss, Iowa Colony saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Kenadie Francis dropped a double-double with 21 points and 13 boards. Francis continues to improve, besting her previous point total in each of the last four games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Payton Watson, who posted 14 points along with five assists and four steals.

Even though they lost, Iowa Colony smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 22 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 16 offensive boards in three consecutive games.

Iowa Colony has traveled a rocky road recently having lost three of their last four matches, which has put a noticeable dent in their 21-14 record this season. As for Rudder, the win (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 14-11.

Iowa Colony does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Rudder, they will take on Bastrop at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Bastrop will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Rudder surely won't give up without a fight.
