Football Recap: Poland Comes Up Short Despite Damon Martin's Big Defensive Game

After flying high against Morse last Friday, Poland came back down to earth. The Knights lost 39-14 to the Dirigo Cougars on Friday. The Knights were not able to make up for their defeat to the Cougars from their previous meeting back in October of 2024.

Poland didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. It was truly a group effort as Damon Martin, Miguel Cyr Ii, and Shawn West picked up one apiece.

Hudson Lufkin went supernova For Dirigo., rushing for 250 yards and one score while picking up 12.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 161 yards and five touchdowns. That's the most passing yards Lufkin has posted since back in September of 2024. Trevor Crosby was another key player, picking up 100 receiving yards and four TDs.

Poland's loss dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Dirigo, their win was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-0.

Poland has already played their next contest, a 34-15 victory against Mountain Valley on the 19th. As for Dirigo, they also wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next matchup, a 26-22 win against Oak Hill on the 20th.
