Volleyball Recap: Spring Valley Comes Up Short in High-Profile Contest with Herbert Hoover

Spring Valley faced Herbert Hoover in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Tuesday. The Timberwolves fell just short of the Huskies by a score of 2-1. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Huskies this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 2-0 back in September.

In a back-and-forth that saw neither team win consecutive sets, Spring Valley sadly dropped the once that decided the match. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-18, 21-25, 15-8.

Emma Edwards paced Spring Valley's offense, picking up 12 kills. Edwards got some help from Avery Ellis and her 15 assists.

Braelyn Adkins was nothing short of spectacular for Herbert Hoover: she had 23 digs and one assist. Adkins is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had 12 or more in each of the last five games she's played.

This is the second loss in a row for Spring Valley and nudges their season record down to 26-11-5. As for Herbert Hoover, they are on a roll lately: they've won 13 of their last 14 matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 41-5-1 record this season.

Spring Valley has already played their next match, a 3-0 win against George Washington on the 16th. As for Herbert Hoover, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 2-1 defeat against Philip Barbour on the 18th.
