Basketball Game Preview: Culver City Centaurs vs. Leuzinger Olympians

Having just played yesterday, the Culver City Centaurs will head out on the road to face off against the Leuzinger Olympians at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. Culver City will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Culver City beat Santa Monica 53-42.

Meanwhile, Leuzinger humbled Hawthorne with an 81-13 victory. Given the Olympians' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 471st, while the Cougars are ranked 1077th), the result on Friday wasn't entirely unexpected.

Culver City better focus on containing Tatyana Aubry and Brianna Ike as the pair were huge in Leuzinger's win. Aubry went 12 for 19 on her way to 28 points and seven assists, while Ike went 11 of 26 en route to 23 points in addition to eight steals and five rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Aubry has scored at least a third of Leuzinger's points. Another player making a difference was Sovereign Woods, who posted seven points and five steals.

Leuzinger has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-11 record this season. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.4 points per game. As for Culver City, their win bumped their record up to 13-8.

Culver City might still be hurting after the 60-35 loss they got from Leuzinger in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Can Culver City avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
