Football Game Preview: Yutan Chieftains vs. North Bend Central Tigers

Yutan has gone a perfect 3-0 against North Bend Central recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Friday. The Chieftains will head out to face off against the Tigers. Yutan will be looking to extend their current three-game winning streak.

On Friday, Yutan took their game with ease, bagging a 46-7 win over Aquinas. The Chieftains might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won five contests by 20 points or more this season.

Yutan's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kaleb Fenner led the charge by rushing for 185 yards and three TDs on only seven carries. Those 185 rushing yards gave Fenner a new career-high. Another rusher making a difference was Otto Henkel, who rushed for 106 yards and a pair of scores on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: Yutan was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 402 rushing yards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now rushed for at least 185 rushing yards in four consecutive matchups.

Yutan didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Carson Holst and Fenner.

Meanwhile, North Bend Central played a tough game on Friday in which they were outscored in every quarter. They were beaten by Bergan Catholic 50-8. Having soared to a lofty 46 points in the game before, the Tigers couldn't push the score so high this time.

Yutan's victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for North Bend Central, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-5.

Everything came up roses for Yutan against North Bend Central when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 57-0 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Chieftains since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
