Baseball Recap: Eisenhower Cadets vs. Wenatchee Panthers

Eisenhower had lost four straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 0-7 to make it five. They lost 15-3 to the Wenatchee Panthers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Panthers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 on Tuesday.

As for Wenatchee, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 6-4. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.8 runs over those games.

For Wenatchee's part, Raiden Haynes made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). Haynes is becoming a predictor of Wenatchee's success: when he allows at most two hits the team is undefeated (and 3-4 when he doesn't). Haynes was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Griffin Butler, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one triple. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Chase Ballew, who went 2-for-4 with three RBI and two runs.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Wenatchee beat Eisenhower by a score of 12-1 later that day.
