Baseball Game Preview: Wakulla War Eagles vs. Arnold Marlins

The Wakulla War Eagles will face off against the Arnold Marlins at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Both come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Wakulla is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Tuesday. They never let Rickards get on the board and left with a 17-0 win. The War Eagles' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

Mack Johnson got the start for Wakulla and what a start it was: he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Johnson also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because the War Eagles are 4-2 when he allows at most two earned runs, but 8-11 otherwise.

On the hitting side, Sam Bruce was incredible, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. He has become a key player for Wakulla: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two stolen bases, but 9-13 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Kendall Wimes, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Wakulla hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-1 when they post two or more strikeouts.

Arnold played against Godby on Tuesday and won via forfeit.

The victory was the fifth in a row for Arnold, bringing their record up to 15-11. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.6 runs on average over those games. As for Wakulla, their victory bumped their record up to 12-13.

Wakulla couldn't quite get it done against Arnold when the teams last played back in April of 2025 as they fell 6-1. Can the War Eagles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
