Basketball Recap: Pelion Starts off Right with Win over Northside Christian Academy

Pelion gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They put the hurt on the Northside Christian Academy Crusaders with a sharp 59-38 win. The Panthers not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since January 6th (when they won 53-31).

Pelion's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kolton Rogers led the charge by dropping a double-double with 11 points and 15 boards. Rogers is also on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in each of the last three games he's played dating back to last season. Another player making a difference was Jayden Fields, who posted nine points and six steals.

Pelion smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive rebounds. That's the most offensive boards they've posted since back in December of 2024.

Northside Christian Academy's defeat came despite a true team effort with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Sam Taylor, who went 6-for-15 en route to 16 points. Mac Jackson was another key player, putting up three points and five rebounds.

Northside Christian Academy's loss dropped their record down to 1-1.

Pelion has already played their next matchup, a 55-36 victory against Swansea on the 22nd. As for Northside Christian Academy, they also wasted no time getting back out on the court and have already played their next contest, a 78-22 defeat against American Leadership Academy on the 22nd.
