Softball Recap: Moody Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Two teams were on the hunt for playoff glory, but only Moody walked away with it. They came out on top against the Archer City Wildcats by a score of 7-2 on Saturday. Winning may never get old, but the Bearcats sure are getting used to it with their eighth in a row.

Shelby Slaughter spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on 13 hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Elanna Edwards was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Emma Ward, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and one run.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Moody kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least nine hits in six consecutive matches.

Moody's win bumped their record up to 20-8-1. As for Archer City, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 11-11.

Moody has already played their next game, a 13-0 loss against Riesel on the 13th. Archer City does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
