Softball Game Preview: Righetti Warriors vs. Arroyo Grande Eagles

Righetti is 2-8 against Arroyo Grande since May of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Wednesday. The Warriors will face off against the Eagles at 4:30 p.m. Righetti's pitching crew has only allowed 2.8 runs per game this season, so Arroyo Grande's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Righetti's pitching crew heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They put the hurt on Cabrillo with a sharp 6-0 victory. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Conquistadores: they've now won four in a row.

Cabrillo's batters probably weren't too happy with Emily Fortin, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 13 Ks (she gave up a single walk). Fortin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than seven strikeouts in eight consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jenna Arguijo, who scored a run while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in RBI (three).

Meanwhile, Arroyo Grande came up short against Mission College Prep on Monday and fell 4-1. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Arroyo Grande saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Ella Stennett (2025), who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Righetti's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 10-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.7 runs on average over those games. As for Arroyo Grande, their loss dropped their record down to 5-12.

Righetti couldn't quite get it done against Arroyo Grande when the teams last played back in March as they fell 7-2. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
