Softball Recap: Bryan Station Comes Up Short

After flying high against Montgomery County on Monday, Bryan Station came back down to earth. The Defenders fell just short of the Lexington Catholic Knights by a score of 1-0 on Tuesday. Considering the last time the Defenders couldn't score was back in April, the team can't take the result too hard.

Karsyn Rockvoan spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on four hits and racked up nine Ks. She has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than eight strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances.

Bryan Station's defeat dropped their record down to 16-7. As for Lexington Catholic, their win was their fifth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 13-8.

Bryan Station and Lexington Catholic should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Kentucky Rankings. The Defenders (ranked 21st) will meet Pulaski County (ranked 91st) at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Lexington Catholic will square off against Bourbon County at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday with a big rank advantage (34 vs. 151).
