After both having extra time off, the Yough Cougars and the Waynesburg Central Raiders will shake off the cobwebs and challenge one another at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. Yough will be looking to keep their eight-game home win streak dating back to last season alive.
Yough scored the most runs they've had all season to find success last Wednesday. Everything went their way against Brownsville as Yough made off with a 13-3 victory.
Waynesburg Central aren't just finding sucess at home, as their game last Thursday extended their overall winning streak to five. They never let Bethlehem Center onto the board and left with a 10-0 win. Ten seems to be a good number for Waynesburg Central as the team scooped up a victory with the same number of runs in their previous game.
Trenton Zupper was a major factor no matter where he played. He pitched three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Zupper was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run and stealing two bases while going 2-for-4.
In other batting news, Derek Turcheck and Ethan Kiger did most of the damage at the plate: Turcheck scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3, while Kiger scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Turcheck has been hot recently, having posted at least one stolen base the last three times he's played. Another player making a difference was Kory Taylor, who scored a run while going 2-for-2.
