Basketball Recap: Bartow Comes Up Short

Bartow was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They had to suffer through a 58-19 loss at the hands of the McKeel Academy Wildcats. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Yellow Jackets this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-29 back in December of 2024.

They used a three-pronged attack on offense: Miniale Algarin, Ashlyn Whitaker, and Jalissa Foster posted six points each.

McKeel Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Ava Anderson out in front who went 8 for 19 on her way to 20 points and five steals. That makes it nine consecutive games in which Anderson has scored at least a third of McKeel Academy's points. Another player making a difference was Sydney Jackson, who went 6 of 8 en route to 14 points and three steals.

Bartow's defeat dropped their record down to 1-16. As for McKeel Academy, their victory bumped their record up to 6-9.

Bartow wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next matchup, a 48-45 win against Lake Gibson on the 23rd. As for McKeel Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 60-49 loss against Seffner Christian on the 23rd.
