Basketball Game Preview: Gonzales Apaches vs. Fredericksburg Billies

The Gonzales Apaches will head out on the road to challenge the Fredericksburg Billies at 6:15 p.m. on Tuesday.

Gonzales will head into Friday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They took a blow against Davenport, falling 74-37. While losing is never fun, the Apaches can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 973rd, while the Wolves are ranked 249th).

Meanwhile, Fredericksburg waltzed into their contest on Friday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They were the clear victor by a 53-29 margin over the Dragons. The Billies have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won seven matches by 22 points or more this season.

Fredericksburg is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 15 games, which provided a nice bump to their 15-7 record this season. As for Gonzales, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-13 record this season.

Gonzales came up short against Fredericksburg in their previous meeting back in January of 2021, falling 58-45. Can Gonzales avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
