Basketball Game Preview: Philip Scotties vs. Highmore/Harrold Pirates

The Philip Scotties will head out to face off against the Highmore/Harrold Pirates at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.

Last Monday, Philip came up short against Kadoka and fell 46-34. The Scotties have struggled against the Kougars recently, as the game was their ninth consecutive lost matchup.

Meanwhile, Highmore/Harrold entered their contest against Lyman on Thursday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. Highmore/Harrold was beaten by Lyman 65-31. While losing is never fun, the Pirates can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' South Dakota basketball rankings (they are ranked 60th, while the Raiders are ranked 14th).

Philip's loss dropped their record down to 8-6. As for Highmore/Harrold, the defeat was their first at home , dropping their record down to 12-3.

Philip skirted past Highmore/Harrold 67-64 in their previous matchup back in February of 2023. Does Philip have another victory up their sleeve, or will Highmore/Harrold turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
