Soccer Game Preview: Voorheesville vs. Troy

The Voorheesville Blackbirds are taking a road trip to face off against the Troy Flying Horses at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Voorheesville's last six matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Voorheesville took a three-goal loss the last time they faced off against Mechanicville, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Blackbirds had just enough and edged out the Red Raiders 3-2 on Saturday. That's two games straight that Voorheesville have won by just one goal.

Meanwhile, Troy hadn't done well against Ballston Spa recently (they were 0-8 in their previous eight matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Thursday. The Flying Horses never let the Scotties get on the board and left with a 1-0 victory. Troy wouldn't have won without Mohammed Al-Masswawari, who scored the game-winner.

The win got Voorheesville back to even at 5-5-2. As for Troy, their victory bumped their record up to 5-7.

Voorheesville took their win against Troy in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Blackbirds since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
