Football Recap: Grossmont Foothillers vs. Granite Hills Eagles
Grossmont was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were dealt a 90-46 defeat at the hands of the Granite Hills Eagles. While losing is never fun, the Foothillers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California football rankings (they are ranked 481st, while the Eagles are ranked 68th).
Thomas Donovan and Noah Walker certainly did their best on Friday to avoid the loss. Donovan threw for 515 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.7 yards per attempt, while Walker picked up 145 receiving yards and four touchdowns. Donovan has been hot , having posted three or more passing touchdowns the last six times he's played. Amari Riley also played a phenomenal game despite the final result: he picked up 145 receiving yards.
Leading Granite Hills to victory were Zac Benitez and Max Turner. Benitez threw for 371 yards and eight touchdowns, while Turner gained 177 total yards and four touchdowns. Lathan Fry did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 84 receiving yards.
Grossmont's loss dropped their record down to 4-6. As for Granite Hills, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.
