Basketball Game Preview: Eustace Bulldogs vs. Edgewood Bulldogs

The Eustace Bulldogs are taking a road trip to face off against the Edgewood Bulldogs at 5:45 p.m. on Tuesday. Neither Eustace nor Edgewood posted many points in their last games, so it might be the defenses that decide this one.

Eustace is headed into Tuesday's game looking for a big change in momentum after dropping their third straight game on Friday. They opened the new year with a less-than-successful 37-25 defeat to Quitman. While losing is never fun, Eustace can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 1045th, while Quitman is ranked 420th).

Eustace's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Paige Quigg, who posted five points and five boards, and Katelyn Landwermeyer, who had no points and five rebounds.

Meanwhile, Edgewood came into Friday's contest having lost four straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. Their defense stepped up to hand Winona a 2-0 shutout on Friday. The two-point effort marked the Bulldogs' lowest-scoring match of the season, but in the end it didn't matter.

Eustace's defeat dropped their record down to 7-11. As for Edgewood, their victory ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 6-14.

Eustace took a serious blow against Edgewood when the teams last played back in December of 2019, falling 68-15. Can Eustace avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
