Volleyball Recap: Thursday's Defeat Ends Butler's Winning Streak

After a string of nine wins, Butler's good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They came up short against the Tippecanoe Red Devils, falling 3-0. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Red Devils this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 3-0 back in September.

The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 25-14, 25-15.

Sophia Guggenbiller paced Butler's offense, picking up 12 kills. Guggenbiller got some help from Alexia Dysinger and her eight assists. Dysinger was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Tippecanoe was led to victory by Brianna Morris and Faith Siefring. Morris had 30 assists and four digs, while Siefring had 21 digs and three assists. Siefring is on a roll when it comes to digs, as she's now had ten or more in each of the last 44 games she's played dating back to last season.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 18-3. As for Tippecanoe, the victory keeps them at an undefeated 22-0.

Butler and Tippecanoe should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in the MaxPreps Ohio Rankings. The Aviators (ranked 135th) will meet Miamisburg (ranked 671st) at 11:15 a.m. on Saturday. Meanwhile, Tippecanoe will square off against Belmont at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday with a big rank advantage (48 vs. 644).
