Basketball Game Preview: Madison County Mountaineers vs. Strasburg Rams

The Madison County Mountaineers will head out on the road to face off against the Strasburg Rams at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that the two teams suffered a loss in their last games, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this contest.

Madison County will head into Friday's game out to bounce back: they won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Friday. They were beaten by Luray 61-20.

Meanwhile, Strasburg came up short against Skyline on Monday and fell 58-51. While losing is never fun, the Rams can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 171st, while the Hawks are ranked 41st).

This is the second loss in a row for Strasburg and nudges their season record down to 5-5. As for Madison County, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Madison County was dealt a bruising 56-27 loss at the hands of Strasburg in their previous meeting back in January of 2024. Can Madison County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
