Baseball Recap: Riverdale Takes a Loss

Riverdale was the 8-7 winner over LaBelle when they last played one another back in March of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The Riverdale Raiders fell just short of the LaBelle Cowboys/Cowgirls by a score of 4-3 on Wednesday. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Riverdale saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Carlos Ayala, who scored a run and stole a base while going 3-for-5. Those three hits gave Ayala a new career-high. Kayden Beard was another, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-5.

Riverdale's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for LaBelle, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Riverdale will square off against Cypress Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Riverdale is facing Cypress Lake at the right time seeing as Cypress Lake is stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for LaBelle, they will take on Mariner at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. LaBelle's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so Mariner's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
