Softball Game Preview: Santiago Cavaliers vs. Western Pioneers

The Santiago Cavaliers will head out on the road to square off against the Western Pioneers at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Santiago has three straight wins, Western has nine straight losses), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

If Santiago beats Western with ten runs on Wednesday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two matches with that exact score. The Cavaliers didn't even let Anaheim on the board on Friday, marking the Cavaliers' second-straight 10-0 shutout. The Cavaliers might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won eight games by nine runs or more this season.

Ihilani B made a big impact no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over five innings pitched. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run and three RBI. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season.

In other batting news, Ava D was excellent, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI. That RBI was her first of the season. Aiyanna M was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and one RBI.

Santiago was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .480. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Meanwhile, Western came up short against Los Amigos on Friday, falling 12-2.

Western's defeat dropped their record down to 2-12. As for Santiago, their record is now 10-6.
