Basketball Game Preview: Capitan Tigers vs. Fort Sumner/House

Capitan hasn't had much luck against Fort Sumner/House recently, but that could start to change on Saturday. The Capitan Tigers just played last yesterday, but they'll still welcome Fort Sumner/House at 5:00 p.m.

On Friday, Capitan had to suffer through a 90-42 loss at the hands of Texico. While losing is never fun, the Tigers can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' New Mexico basketball rankings (they are ranked 140th, while the Wolverines are ranked fifth).

Meanwhile, Fort Sumner/House came tearing into Thursday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 43 points) and they left with even more momentum. They put the hurt on the Steers with a sharp 56-33 win. Fort Sumner/House has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight games by 23 points or more this season.

Fort Sumner/House's victory was their 13th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 10-1. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 76.5 points per game. As for Capitan, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-9.
