Baseball Recap: Richmond Picks Up Eighth Straight Win at Home

Richmond strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over the Carrabec Cobras. The Bobcats have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Cobras, too.

Kenny Mecham was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Mecham was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with two RBI, one run, and one double.

In other batting news, Ben Fournier was incredible, going 2-for-3 with four stolen bases and two runs. That's the most stolen bases he has posted since back in April of 2024. Cale Harrington was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.

Richmond kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in four consecutive contests dating back to last season.

Richmond pushed their record up to 3-0 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.9 runs over those games. As for Carrabec, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-2.

Looking ahead, Richmond will play host again on Saturday to welcome Forest Hills, where first pitch is scheduled at 10:00 a.m. As for Carrabec, they will square off against Telstar at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Cobras' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Rebels have averaged an impressive 8.2 runs per game this season.
