Football Recap: Levi Kramer's Menacing Defense Leads Clay Center over Concordia

If Concordia wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Clay Center, they should've done a better job of containing Eisaac Girton. The Tigers put the hurt on the Panthers with a sharp 47-26 victory on Friday thanks in part to Girton, who rushed for 326 yards and six scores while picking up 8.0 yards per carry. He has become a key player for Clay Center: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two rushing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise.

On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Clay Center's defense and their three sacks. Levi Kramer was particularly dangerous to the passing game, picking up two himself. He has been hot recently, having also posted seven or more total tackles the last three times he's played.

Concordia's loss came despite strong showings from Ayden Krier and Kale Schroeder. Krier picked up 106 receiving yards and one TD, while Schroeder picked up 80 receiving yards and a pair of touchdowns. Krier also put in work on the defensive side of the ball, forcing one fumble and making seven total tackles (1.0 for loss).

Clay Center has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 4-2 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 33.0 points over those games. As for Concordia, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.
