Softball Preview: Nokomis Redskins vs. Pawnee Indians        
        
		
            
 The Nokomis Redskins will head out on the road to  square off against  the Pawnee Indians at 4:30  p.m.  on Friday. One thing working in Nokomis' favor is that they have posted big  run totals  in their last three matchups.
 In what's become a running theme this season, Nokomis gave their fans yet another huge  win on Wednesday. They put the hurt on Shelbyville with a sharp  11-2 victory.
  Reaghan Jonas made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she  struck out seven batters over  seven innings while giving up just one earned  (and one unearned) run off   five  hits (and only one walk). Jonas has been consistent recently: she hasn't  tossed less than six  strikeouts in four consecutive pitching appearances. Jonas was also big at the plate,  going 2-for-3 with three  runs, a  triple,  and  an  RBI.
 In other batting news,  the team  relied heavily on  Jayde Gonet, who  went 4-for-4 with three  doubles, four  RBI,  and a  run. Another player making a difference was  Camryn Engelman, who  went 2-for-4 with a  home run, two  runs,  and two  RBI.
 Pawnee proved they can win big  last Wednesday (they won by ten) but  on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with  an  8-6  win over Litchfield.
 Nokomis now  has a winning record of 4-3. As for Pawnee, they now  have a winning record of 2-1.
 Nokomis suffered a grim  15-0 defeat to Pawnee  in their previous meeting  back in April of 2023. Can Nokomis avenge their  loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
