Basketball Game Preview: Northside Vikings vs. Fleming Colonels

Northside is 1-9 against Fleming since February of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Northside Vikings will challenge the Fleming Colonels at 7:00 p.m.

Northside is headed into the game having just suffered their closest loss since February 9, 2024 on Wednesday. They fell just short of Christiansburg by a score of 46-43.

Meanwhile, Fleming waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with six straight wins... but they left with seven. They breezed by the Terriers to the tune of 76-22. Given the Colonels' advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked fourth, while the Terriers are ranked 260th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Fleming's win was their seventh straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 14-2. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.0 points per game. As for Northside, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-13.

Northside was taken down by Fleming 63-18 in their previous matchup back in January of 2024. Can Northside avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
