Preview: San Antonio Christian Lions vs. Blanco Panthers

San Antonio Christian has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The San Antonio Christian Lions and the Blanco Panthers will round out the year against one another at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday at. Blanco took a loss in their last match and will be looking to turn the tables on San Antonio Christian, who comes in off a win.

Last Friday, everything went San Antonio Christian's way against Lutheran as San Antonio Christian made off with a 48-26 win. Given San Antonio Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 459th, while Lutheran is ranked 1360th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Blanco's 24-12 record from last season is now well into the rear view mirror after another tough outing. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 44-20 walloping at the hands of Marble Falls on Thursday. Blanco was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 28-6.

Despite the loss, Blanco got a solid performance out of Mina Broyles, who scored 12 points along with six rebounds and three steals. Broyles is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season.

Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Blanco struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.

San Antonio Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. As for Blanco, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 7-11.

San Antonio Christian was able to grind out a solid win over Blanco when the teams last played back in November, winning 53-41. One of the biggest obstacles the team faced in that game was Broyles, who scored 19 points along with eight rebounds. Now that she's got a second chance to win this matchup, will San Antonio Christian still be able to contain him? There's only one way to find out.
