Football Recap: Nipmuc Regional Comes Up Short

Nipmuc Regional extended their losing streak to three on Saturday, dropping them down to 4-5. They were six points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 20-14 heartbreaker at the hands of the Bay Path RVT Minutemen. If the Warriors were looking for revenge after losing 24-8 to the Minutemen when the teams met back in November of 2022, then they'll just have to keep looking.

As for Bay Path RVT, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record up to 4-5. Those wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 27.3 points over those games.

Dominik Ignatovich was a one-man wrecking crew as he rushed for 158 yards and a pair of scores while picking up 7.2 yards per carry, and also picked up 112 receiving yards. Those 158 rushing yards gave him a new career-high. Max Lapriore was another key player, rushing for 23 yards and one TD.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. Nipmuc Regional will face off against Blackstone-Millville at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. That matchup will pit two of the most dominant signal callers against one another: Josh Giancola and Karson Cournoyer. As for Bay Path RVT, they will square off against Blackstone Valley RVT at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. That game will pit two of the most dominant backs against one another: Elias Vega and Bryce Sheldon.
