Baseball Recap: Monday's Victory Is Eau Gallie's Tenth in Last 13 Outings

It's playoff time, and Eau Gallie had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against the Belen Jesuit Wolverines by a score of 8-3 on Monday.

Carson Lietz was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off eight hits (and only one walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and one double. That's the most RBI he has posted since back in March.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alex Jacobs, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with one home run. Vincent Breckenridge was another key player, going 1-for-2 with two runs and one stolen base.

Eau Gallie has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.2 runs on average over those games. As for Belen Jesuit, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 12-15.

Eau Gallie will have a chance to go back-to-back against the Wolverines: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
