Basketball Recap: Westerly Now 15-2 over Last 17 Games

It's playoff time, and Westerly had no trouble coming through when it counted. They came out on top against Tolman/Shea by a score of 51-41 on Friday.

Westerly found their leader in freshman Ella Reyes, who went 11-for-23 on her way to 28 points along with eight boards and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Reyes has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Kate Rafferty, who posted five points in addition to eight assists and three steals.

Westerly was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They are 17-4 when they've passed the ball that well.

Despite the loss, Tolman/Shea still got an impressive performance from Tiyara Gonzalez, who put up 20 points along with six assists and four steals. Gonzalez has been hot for a while, having posted three or more steals the last 15 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Azilyn Medina, who scored 13 points.

Westerly has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 15 of their last 17 matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-7 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.3 points over those games. Tolman/Shea is on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 9-14.

Looking ahead, Westerly will square off against Moses Brown at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Westerly is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 52.1 points per game this season. Tolman/Shea does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
