Softball Recap: Ider Extends Winning Streak to Six

Ider entered their tilt with Valley Head on Friday with five consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with six. They never let the Tigers get on the board and left with an 11-0 win. Considering the Hornets have won eight matchups by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Miklyn Troxtel was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in 13 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Ider let Makinley Traylor and McKenna Mitchell run wild. Traylor scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-2, while Mitchell scored two runs and stole two bases while getting on base in two of her three plate appearances. Traylor is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged two or more in each of the last three games she's played. Kahlan Greeson was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one triple and one run.

Ider always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .577. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Valley Head only posted an OBP of .222.

Ider's victory bumped their record up to 18-6. As for Valley Head, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 6-17-2 record this season.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ider will head out to face off against Section at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Hornets are facing the Lions at the right time seeing as the Lions are stuck on an 11-game losing streak. As for Valley Head, they will challenge Coosa Christian at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
