Softball Game Preview: Lehman Catholic Cavaliers vs. Riverside Pirates

Lehman Catholic hasn't had much luck against Riverside recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Cavaliers will look to defend their home field against the Pirates at 5:00 p.m. Lehman Catholic has given up an average of 13.2 runs per game this season, but Thursday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Thursday just wasn't the day for Lehman Catholic's offense. They lost 12-0 to Miami East on Thursday. The Cavaliers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Meanwhile, Riverside never let their opponents score on Wednesday. They blew past Troy Christian 16-0. The Pirates might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six matchups by seven runs or more this season.

Riley Dillon was a major factor while hitting and pitching. Dillon was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in four of her five plate appearances with four stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Emilee Robinson was incredible, going 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two stolen bases gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Miah Carman, who went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs.

Riverside kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. They are a perfect 9-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

The victory made it two in a row for Riverside and bumps their season record up to 12-8. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered a grand total of 6 runs in those games. As for Lehman Catholic, their loss dropped their record down to 1-9.
