Recap: Northfield Nighthawks vs. Hinkley Thunderbirds
The Northfield Nighthawks had already won seven in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.1 points), and they went ahead and made it eight on Thursday. They blew past Hinkley 65-7 at home. Northfield has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 25 points or more this season.
Northfield found their leader in underclassman Madison Bethel, who scored 11 points along with eight steals. Bethel is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last four games she's played. Faith Nelson was another key contributor, scoring four points along with two steals.
Northfield pushed their record up to 12-1 with that victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 61.8 points per game. As for Hinkley, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Northfield won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Denver West at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Denver West will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Colorado Rankings (they are ranked 249th, while Northfield is ranked 14th). Hinkley won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Rangeview at 6:00 p.m. on January 19th. Hopefully Rangeview focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 16 last Friday.
