Baseball Recap: Newport Harbor Wins High-Profile Match Against Huntington Beach

Newport Harbor faced Huntington Beach in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Friday. The Sailors walked away with a 6-3 win over the Oilers. That's the third time they've managed to beat them this season, with their most recent victory being a 5-2 win on Wednesday.

Lucas Perez made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one walk in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run.

In other batting news, Newport Harbor let Ryan Williams and Wyatt Gahm run wild. Williams went 2-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one double, while Gahm went 2-for-4 with one home run. That double marked the first that Williams has hit this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Adam Martin, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
