Volleyball Recap: Strom Thurmond Takes a Loss

After flying high against Pelion on Tuesday, Strom Thurmond came back down to earth. The Rebels came up short against the Abbeville Panthers on Wednesday, falling 3-0. The Rebels haven't had much luck with the Panthers recently, as the team has come up short the last seven times they've met.

The final score came out to 25-15, 25-19, 25-12.

Leigh Anne Strock paced Strom Thurmond's offense, picking up seven kills. Strock got some help from Rahlyn Widener and her 11 assists. Widener was also solid from the service line: she led the team with two aces.

Strom Thurmond's loss dropped their record down to 6-6. As for Abbeville, they pushed their record up to 11-0 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season.

Looking ahead, Strom Thurmond will take on Saluda at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Abbeville, they will challenge Whitmire at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday.
