Softball Game Preview: Trona Tornadoes vs. Lone Pine Eagles

The Trona Tornadoes will face off against the Lone Pine Eagles at 3:15 p.m. on Tuesday. Trona has given up an average of 7.4 runs per game this season, but Tuesday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.

Trona's last matchup with Immanuel Christian could've gone either way, but unfortunately the same can't be said for the pair's contest on Tuesday. The Tornadoes came up short against the Crusaders, falling 16-3.

Meanwhile, Lone Pine had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 13.7 runs) and they went ahead and made it four on Tuesday. Everything went their way against the Mustangs as they made off with an 18-4 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Eagles have posted against the Mustangs since April 2, 2019.

Lone Pine got a massive performance out of Allisson Villa, who went 3-for-4 with four runs and two doubles. The team also got some help courtesy of Selena Pedan, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with three runs and one double.

Lone Pine was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .457. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .306 or higher in four consecutive games.

Lone Pine's win bumped their record up to 8-2. As for Trona, their loss dropped their record down to 6-5.

Tuesday's matchup might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Trona has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .513. However, it's not like Lone Pine struggles in that department as they've averaged .512. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Trona got the 'W' in their previous matchup back in May of 2025 against Lone Pine by a conclusive 12-2 score. Will the Tornadoes repeat their success, or do the Eagles have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
